Alessandro Pomfret Prize - Can You Help?

The Alessandro Pomfret Memorial Prize includes assistance to a pupil from an OH to help them make more progress towards achieving a career in their chosen field. Can you assist this year's winner?

Haileybury is seeking help from the OH community in helping with the inaugural award of the Allesandro Pomfret prize, due to be announced on Speech Day later this month.

What is the Pomfret Prize?

The award of the prize follows the tragic death last summer of sixth former Alessandro Pomfret. It will be awarded to a member of the current Lower Sixth who has shown outstanding progress and development during their career to date.

Alessandro's own progress in school was slow when he arrived at Haileybury. Yet with the remarkable help of the school's Learning Support Department he achieved quite remarkable results in his GCSEs and grew to be a kind, optimistic and ambitious young man.

The prize is offered as a reward for a pupil making similar progress but it is not restricted to those who have received help from the Learning Support Department.

What is included in the prize?

A key component of the prize is to be the assistance of an OH or a Haileybury parent mentor who will assist them in making even more progress towards a career in their chosen field. This is where the Old Haileyburian community comes in...

Can you help?

This year's prize winner has already been chosen with the formal announcement occurring on Speech Day. With this in mind, Haileybury's Chaplain, Chris Briggs, has asked whether any member of the Haileybury Society community of Old Haileyburians would be willing to assist in mentoring the prize winner or in offering either a placement or mentoring.

We are told that this year's prize winner is inteterested in either business management or marketing, based in London; the mentoring or placement to occur between now and the end of next school year.

If you would like to help, please contact the Haileybury Society in the first instance here.
